I don’t know about you, but my husband and I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. We typically like to celebrate and do romantic things around days that are more meaningful for us (dating anniversary, wedding anniversary, birthdays, etc).

But now that we’ve been married almost 6 years, have twin toddler boys, and are expecting our second set of twins this summer, finding the time for romance in our marriage is a LOT harder!! And so this year, I actually really appreciate the reminder and encouragement with February 14th looming nearer to rekindle the romance in our marriage (because some days it’s just REALLY HARD)!

A few years ago (when we had more time and energy),  my husband and I sat down together one day and created The Rekindling Romance eKit. It’s a self-contained kit that has everything you need to spice up your marriage a bit and reconnect.

Coupon Book Printables

We are going to start with the coupon book printables that are included in the eKit. The coupons come pre-written with cute (and some sexy) coupons! So we will start with these coupons that can be redeemed at any point in the next two weeks – and the fun of it is – the spouse receiving the card can’t say no! 🙂

These would also make a cute gift to just give your hubby out of the blue! 

10 Things I Love About You

These fun cards (which I printed out and attached to a ring) are blank cards with a cover that reads “10 Things I Love About You”. So our second romantic gesture from the Rekindling Romance eKit is to each fill out a set of these cards. We will then pick a date night, grab some coffee, snuggle in bed, and exchange our cards!

I think this will be a really sweet time to be able to slow down and focus on what we love about our spouse (and to get to see what they love about us)!

10 Quotes on Love & Marriage Cards

Like the 10 Things I Love About You Cards, I printed these out and attached them to a ring for easy access (although you could always pull them up on your smart phone or iPad). We are going to spread these 10 quotes out over the two weeks and steal a few special moments to read the quote together, say a prayer for our marriage…and maybe spend a few intentional minutes kissing (kissing really seems to fly out the window when you have little kids doesn’t it??).

A Newlywed Game….with a Twist!

We are going to set aside an entire night for this one, because it’s really fun! Now that we’ve gone through some of the emotionally romantic gestures such as writing out ways we love our spouse, reading marriage quotes together, talking, etc. we figured it was time to really spice things up!

And you don’t have to be a newlywed to play this game! This is a unique twist on the old tv show. You take turns asking questions (and completing challenges like who can find a candle and light it first) and the loser of each round has to remove one article of clothing. It’s a fun and light way to spice things up a little and have some fun!

Scavenger Hunt Printables

We haven’t totally decided how we will use these printable cards yet! The cards come with a place to write in as many clues as you want to lead the other somewhere. Maybe we will each take a set of the cards and we have to make (not buy) each other a romantic gift and then use the scavenger hunt cards to lead us to the gift!

Create a Romantic Movie Night In

This one is going to be really fun! I think I’m going to take over this one. I’m going to put the kids down to bed early, light some candles, leave a note on the door for when hubby gets home, and create a romantic dinner for two! I’ll also rent a fun movie (that we both will enjoy) to snuggle up with after that.

Create a Mix CD

This is one that we are going to do together! My husband loves music and so we are going to sit down together and brainstorm romantic songs and songs that are meaningful to us (like our first dance song at our wedding). Then we will print out the cute CD cover (included in the eKit) and have a CD full of memories together. Plus, I think it will be fun to sit down and make it together!

Create a Romantic Gift Basket

Since I’m doing the romantic night in, hubby is going to take over this one. And it’s perfect because included in the eKit is a printable checklist of ideas to include in a romantic gift basket (so it’s going to be really simple for him to put this together)! All he has to do is take some time to put the basket together and we will have a whole other romantic night ready to go.
