Hf #008: Creating Realistic Routines for the Busy Homemaker
Welcome back to the eighth episode of my brand new podcast: The Homemaking Foundations Podcast –Where we give you the tools, inspiration, and encouragement you need to craft a Gospel-Centered Home. In case you missed it, you can listen in to the last episode here: Episode #007: Determining How You Should Spend Your Time as a Homemaker.
As a busy mom of four young boys, I’ve found that I have to be very strategic in planning out my day for I don’t get done. I have to determine what the most important things for today are, because in reality, I’m not going to get everything on my “to-do” list done – and sometimes I can really only accomplish one or two things in between dishes, diaper changes, and the normal things that take up our time throughout the day.
Instead of strictly regimenting every minute of every hour of my day, I’ve learned to set priorities for the day. Certain things (like Bible study) are such a high priority that they need to get done first thing. Otherwise, the unexpected things of your day (especially life with little kids) will turn your schedule upside down and you may end up heading to bed at night feeling like you got nothing done…again.
And that’s what today’s episode is about: Creating routines throughout our day to help us better manage our homes. Let’s dive in!

Resource of the Week:
Makeover Your Mornings eCourse by Crystal Paine
Crystal just launched this course a couple of months ago and it rocks!! I can’t wait to start implamenting what I learned in it. It’s not a course about getting up early necessarily, it’s about making over your morning routines so you can better use your time. I’ve already been using some of the tips she shares but I started the course right before having my twins and obviously I’ve had no sort of schedule the first several weeks with newborns. Now that we are starting to get more consistent sleeping and eating patters, I hope to start some better morning routines soon. In the coming weeks or months, I hope to go through the course again and really utilize all the resources from it!
But I highly recommend you go check out the course. You can find out all about it HERE. This course really ties in perfectly with what we’ve been talking about with setting priorities and creating realistic routines and schedules. Check out the course and then let me know what you think!
