The home and the family is under attack in our current culture. The nuclear family with mom, dad, and kids is no longer seen as the ideal. When we got married young and dreamed of starting a family, many wondered {aloud and to our faces} WHY we would be dreaming of this so young!

The culture tells us to spend our years traveling and enjoying our life now and that there is no rush on starting a family…as if starting a family instantly means drudgery, hard work, and no reward! But from studying God’s word we know this isn’t the truth!

“God created the man and the woman and brought them together to forge a unique union that would enable them to accomplish his creative purposes in continuing the generations and in exercising dominion over the world he had created. He chose the family and the relationships therein to be his primary classroom and the most comprehensive object lesson for teaching women and men about himself and for challenging them to pursue the holy life he demands so that they can reveal him more effectively. The strength of the family should surpass all other human liaisons  The divinely appointed exclusive commitment within its circle calls for the ultimate design to meet physical, emotional  intellectual, and spiritual needs of women and men in every season of life through selfless, loving service of each to all!” ~ Pg 55, The Christian Homemakers Handbook

Trying to raise a Christ Centered family does NOT mean that you will be a “perfect Christian family”. In fact, you will fail over and over.

“The notion that the Christian home is a perfect or near perfect place is decidedly not Biblical. The parents in the home fail; often they fail miserably. They fail one another, they fail their children, and they certainly fail God.” ~ Christian Living in the Home by Jay Adams

So what does a Christ centered home look like?

“A truly Christian home is a place where sinners live; but it is also a place where the members of that home admit the fact and understand the problem, know what to do about it, and as a result grow by grace.” ~ Christian Living in the Home by Jay Adams

A Christ centered home is characterized by those within its walls that readily admit the fact that they are sinners and frequently confess their sins and ask for forgiveness from the other members. Christian homes are characterized by those wanting to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord.
