Keeping Christ in Christmas Gifts Part 2
From, Contributing Writer Erica Illsley
A great way to keep Christ in Christmas is to give Christ-centered gifts to others during the Christmas season. This list is an extension of our post last Christmas season that you can check out here. These gifts are not necessarily the most popular or brand-new items, some are gift ideas that have been a blessing to many people through the years.
For Babies and Children
Melissa and Doug Bible Toys – Our family loves Melissa and Doug toys! They are sturdy and fun and if you have problems with a product they have great customer service. Old Testament & New Testament Cube Puzzles, Days of Creation Stacking Nesting Blocks (seen below), Bible Stories Water Reveal Pad, and Wooden Nativity Set.
Lift the Flap Bible Board Book – This is a cute book that goes through the familiar Bible stories and allows little ones to interact by lifting the flaps and discovering pictures beneath them. It’s a heavy-duty book with sturdy flaps that will allow your child(ren) to learn and look over and over again.
The Jesus Storybook Bible – 90% of reviewers on Amazon give this book a 5-star rating. Recommended by one of our other Young Wife’s Guide contributors, Katie Bennett, it is a book that tells the story behind the stories of the Bible as well as teaching your child that God is in the center of their lives as much as the lives of the Bible characters.
Adventures in Odyssey Imagination Station Books – For 7 year olds and up. Patrick and Beth travel in the Imagination Station on wild adventures to places of Biblical or historical importance and find adventures along the way that teach them about God and Christian history. Their Christmas-themed adventure is Danger on a Silent Night. There are 16 books in the series with more being written.
Dover Little Coloring & Activity Books – These are great stocking stuffers! Nativity Sticker Book, Easy Nativity Scene Sticker Puzzle Book, Nativity Stained Glass Coloring Book, and a wide variety of other themes are available.
To Bethlehem Board Game – Todd Wilson, a Christian dad of eight, created this board game to help his children learn about the importance of the Christmas season, Jesus! Reviews for this game say that it’s a fun game that will make you laugh. For all ages.
Christian Gifts for Teens and Adults
Love the Lord, Inc. has a selection of Christian artwork and other gifts. My favorite finds are a Taste and See the Lord is Good cutting board (see below), the Family Prayer sculpture, and the As for Me and My House Wall Art.
Bible Journal Art Supplies – Bible journaling is a very popular right now. Artistic people are using their creativity to draw pictures in Bibles they purchase specifically for their drawings. The drawings are to represent spiritual truths, pictures of Bible scenes, or verses on the pages of a Bible using colored pencils, special markers, etc. Learn more about Bible journaling and supplies here.
Give the gift of song in beautiful hymn art that you can purchase in many Etsy stores (like this) or make your own from a free printable from The Turquoise Home (see below).
Striving Together Publications has a wide variety of books about Christian living for parents, families, and young adults that are Biblically sound. Also, books for those in ministry about preaching, leading, and even being a pastor’s wife.
Christian Tools of Affirmation (CTA, Inc.) is a great website for purchasing Christian gifts like mugs, ornaments, fun themed items to purchase for friends and neighbors. If you have a Christmas party for kids or for Jesus’ birthday they have themed items for parties as well.
Great gifts will make your loved ones think of God year-round!
I hope these ideas will boost your spiritual gift-giving creativity and you will be able to find something that will be a blessing to someone you love.
