My Goals for This Week – Preparing for Our New Babies 5/19/15

on May 19, 2015 by Jami Balmet 0 comments

It has hit me all of a sudden that my twin boys are going to be here before we know it – so I’m in full nesting mode this week! Technically they are due July 14th but at my ultrasound this past week, we found out that they are both estimated to be over 4lbs each – and I’m only 31 weeks!! (That’s big even for a single baby).

So all of a sudden this week it hit me that these boys could be here in as little as 3 – 6 weeks and I’m not ready! Being my second pregnancy and my second set of twins, I’ve been so much more relaxed this time around and have felt more prepared. Except, now I’m realizing that I haven’t prepared anything. So this week is all about getting prepared to meet our new babies.

My weekly Goals (Personal & Business)

What We’ve Been Up to This Last Week

Like I said, we had an ultrasound and found that both boys are measuring in at over 4lbs each. Which means my uterus is the size of most full term pregnancies and I’m walking around with 8+ pounds of baby already and several weeks left to go. I’m starting to get really tired and it’s getting a lot harder for me to move around and do things around the house.

31 Weeks With Twin Boys

Both babies are now breech 🙁 And we are praying that at least Baby A moves back to being heads down in the coming weeks but we know it’s all in God’s timing!

Our amazing church body threw me a baby shower last Monday and it was such a blessing. A dear Titus 2 friend of mine shared a beautiful devotional which was exactly what this busy mama needed to hear (I am going to try and get her to let me publish the devotional here on the blog – I know that so many other moms need to hear the message as well)! It was wonderful to see so many women come together to shower love and support on our family. It was such a blessing.

On Sunday we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary! It hit me this week that in 6 years, we’ve become a family of 6. How cool!

Our Wedding - 6 years ago

My mother and father in law were so kind to offer to take our boys for the weekend so we could getaway for a little anniversary/babymoon trip! It’s getting hard for me to walk around much without having contractions and I’ll likely be on bed rest soon. So it was wonderful to have a relaxing and bonding getaway before our new boys arrive.

I had the biggest mountain of crab legs at a really neat buffet we ate at on Saturday night. And we stayed at the coolest hotel with a little pond and turtles in the lobby. It was exactly what I needed – to get away for 2 days.

Our anniversary getaway

As I shared in my post yesterday, my sister came over last week and helped me go to Costco and do a massive shop and then spent 4 hours doing a freezer cooking day with me! I now have about 40 meals in my freezer with plans for fitting a few more in there before the babies arrive. I probably won’t be able to cook very much by the end of this pregnancy so I want to have plenty of meals saved up.

Last Week’s Personal Goals

1) Continue reading the Bible and my devotional book – Women Living Well. Read every day. Maybe finish my book this week and start something new? (With everything going on last week, I actually misplaced my copy and didn’t finish it. Hoping to change that this week!)

2) Start our new audio book – Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life (Jason listens to it during his rather long commute to work and I listen to it in pieces throughout the day when I’m cooking, cleaning, driving, etc. It takes me longer to get through a book than it takes him.)

3) Continue reading one chapter of Give Them Grace each night with my husband.

4) Exercise twice this week.

5) Compile my baby freezer cooking list so I can get started with all my freezer cooking this month!

6) Finish getting our new office/craft room all set up and organized

7) Finish painting the nursery

Last Week’s Business Goals

1) Post 4 times on the blog this week

2) Start our new homemaking weekly deals feature on Fridays

3) Wrap up recording my new homemaking podcast which is tentatively scheduled to launch the first week in June!! – Stay tuned for details! (It’s not done recording yet – but we are working on it)!

Personal Goals for This Up Coming Week

1) Continue reading the Bible and my devotional book – Women Living Well. Read every day.

2) Continue listening to our audio book together – Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life (Jason listens to it during his rather long commute to work and I listen to it in pieces throughout the day when I’m cooking, cleaning, driving, etc. It takes me longer to get through a book than it takes him.) (BTW you can sign up for a FREE 30 day trial to Audible and get 2 audiobooks absolutely free – including this one we are listening to)!

3) Continue reading one chapter of Give Them Grace each night with my husband.

4) Sort through all baby presents and unpack the nursery now that it’s painted.

5) Wash all newborn – 9 month clothing and get it hung up in the closet.

6) Assemble the cribs (Jason’s job)

7) Make a list of what else we need to buy/find before the babies arrive!
