Our Love Story {Part Two}: Our First Valentine’s Day Together
Our fifth wedding anniversary is coming up in just a few days. So I decided to re-post our love story. Young Wife’s Guide is dedicated to encouraging YOU where you are and I thought you might like to see a little bit of our story…Go back and read part one: how we met and started dating.
If you remember from part one, we had our first official date on February 1st, 2007. I was 17 by this time and he was 19. I was a high schooler dating a college man, I was cool! 😉
Two weeks after we started dating was our first Valentine’s Day together. And this is when I started falling in love with this man.
Our First Valentine’s Day
My boyfriend (of two weeks) went all out for our first Valentine’s Day. It all started the week before. Every day for a week he surprised me with a different present leading up until Valentine’s Day.
Day One
He surprised me with a single red rose. Nothing fancy, just a beautiful rose.
Day Two
He surprised me with a cute bouquet of rose candies. A sweet thought.
Day Three
Working at a grocery store, we had some fun laughs over the silly Valentine’s Day items that we were selling in the store. One was a chocolate fish that said “You’re a real catch”. It was silly and ridiculous and we thought it was so funny. So my day #3 surprise was the fish. And I still have it to this day.
Day Four
My boyfriend got our coworkers involved: One night after he had left for the day and I as getting off work, a coworker told me to hang on for a second and walked into the office. When she came back out she had a bouquet of balloons attached to a teddy bear. It was so surprising and adorable!
Day Five
This is my favorite one. Up until this day I had received something every day. But on this day I had been at school all day and then went to youth group. Meanwhile he was at work from 3 to midnight. I figured that I wasn’t getting anything today.
After youth group a bunch of us used to go to Taco Bell for dinner every week. This week we get there and start to order and the lady behind the counter asked which of us is Jami. “Uuuh I am..?”
She then goes in the back and comes out with a handful of stuff! My boyfriend (of two weeks) convinced the Taco Bell workers to hold this stuff in the back and then find out who I was once a group of teenagers walked in! Um..WOW!
He left me a gigantic singing cute card, some chocolates, and more. It was the sweetest most surprising thing he has ever done!
Day Six
I saw him this day and he gave me a dozen pink roses (my favorite color). I had never received roses like this before 🙂
Day Seven
We can’t exactly remember everything we did on this day, but on Valentine’s Day he gave me a great card and a couple of inside jokes as presents and something fun for dinner.
The two that stick out to me from this week were the ones he surprised me with. Leaving presents at work and having a co-worker bring it out to me and also surprising me at Taco Bell will forever be burned in my memory!
From this time on we really bonded. We started slow and didn’t see each other every day. I was a bit more reserved and cautious but eventually we became inseparable.
