Our Preschool Homeschooling Plan (3-4 years old)

on May 18, 2016 by Jami Balmet 0 comments

There’s a lot of talk going around this week about homeschooling because there’s a big homeschooling curriculum sale going on until Monday May 23rd.

I guess I don’t share about this very often because I’ve already had a ton of questions about whether we plan on homeschooling our four boys or not. Short answer: Yes, Lord Willing, we plan on homeschooling our four boys. That’s been our plan since we got married and I’m excited to start the journey with them.

Our preschool homeschool curriculum

But you see, we’ve got a little ways to go since our older twins are only 3. But as all my friends are venturing into pre-school land this year (and because I get asked this question every other day), I thought I would share what our homeschool pre-school plan is for this year.

By the way, this week only until May 23rd, you can get ALL of these resources mentioned below and more for only $20!! Find out more about the Early Living Bundle for resources for homeschooling preschool-3rd!

Of course, this is my first attempt at pre-school, so things could change! So before I share the resources I’m using, I want to say a few things up front:

1) We are holding these plans loosely

I don’t think pre-school should be super stressful or super structured. Kids learn best by exploring, playing, and asking lots and lots of questions.

So I don’t plan on having a really structured homeschool plan for this year. We are just going to go through the resources below as we have time and when it makes sense in our day.

One thing I like about some of these resources we will use, is it allows me to slow down and focus on the big boys. Get down on their level and spend some quality time with them while the babies nap or play.

2) My goal is to learn how to sit still

One of my main goals (perhaps THE main goal) is to work on sitting still a bit more. My three year old boys are BUNDLES of energy and over the next year and a half, until we start Kindergarten, I want to work on our ability to sit still for a little while.

The activities and resources I share below are going to help a lot with that! (And see point #1 above.)

What we are using for preschool this year:

Look What I Can Do! Preschool Curriculum

Look what I can doThis will serve as our main preschool curriculum for the year as we prepare for kindergarten. The core of this book helps to make learning fun and exciting while preparing those basic skills needed for K and beyond.

It includes worksheets, rhythms, activities and stories to help engage your preschooler. I’m really excited to get going through this with my boys.

This preschool curriculum normally sells for $12.95 but you can get it in the early education bundle this week only!

Art & The Bible for Children

Art-Bible-ChildrenI think this might be the resource I’m most looking forward to using. It includes 36 stories from the Old Testament and 23 stories from the New Testament that are written in an easy to understand way for preschoolers AND includes art lessons at the end of each story.

I’m excited to use this as a regular part of our story and learning time through the day – share God’s Word with them and then help them feel connected to it by the art lessons!

This deluxe text normally costs $24.95 but you can get it in the early education bundle this week only!

Preparing Your Hands on Environment

preparing-hands-on-environmentOkay so this isn’t curriculum per say, but I’m excited to read through this and use it in my home. Like I said above, I think a really important aspect of learning from a young age is their environment, how they play, and how they start to interact with the world.

Includes printable cheat sheets to help you brain storm each room in your home and think through your child’s strengths and interests.

This eBook normally costs $3.99 but you can get it in the early education bundle this week only!

101 Independent Activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers

101-independent-activitiesOkay, maybe I was wrong. THIS might be the resource I’m most excited about! I want my preschoolers to have fun and learn through independent play, PLUS I’ve got my other twins who will be toddlers soon and ready to play. I plan on using this resource a ton throughout the year.

The book is divided into several sections, including:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Chores (yes chores! Preschoolers love cleaning!)
  • Educational activities
  • Sensory activities
  • Literacy activities
  • Imaginative Play

This eBook normally costs $9.99 but you can get it in the early education bundle this week only!

Snag the Early Education Mini Bundle!

These are just four preschool resources I’m planning to dig into first, because like I said, this whole homeschooling thing is new to us. I’m sure this year will morph and change as we get into it and figure out our own rhythm.

But the early education mini bundle actually contains $225.70 worth of amazing resources that I can’t wait to dig into next…all for just $20!! Check out everything that’s in this bundle:
